Counseling Center Opens: Kathy Woods Named Coordinator
We continue to focus on our Church Engagement initiative, seeking to provide services for churches as well as partnering with churches to provide help to those in need. One of the ways we are furthering this initiative is by providing counseling services.
We are pleased to announce that at our Lowe-Frillman campus in St. Louis we are opening up our counseling services from serving residential and Treatment Foster Care clients only to serving community clients as well; this means that local churches can refer people from their churches or others in the community that need counseling.
Mrs. Kathy Woods has accepted the position of Counseling Center Coordinator. Mrs. Woods has been employed with the agency for 14 years and has a master’s degree in counseling as well as her LPC which stands for “Licensed Professional Counselor”; her most recent position with the agency was Family Foster Care Supervisor, and she also provided therapy for some of our residential clients.
We plan to open our community counseling services just as soon as we can transition Mrs. Woods out of her current position into the Counseling Center Coordinator position. We look forward to seeing how God is going to use this additional ministry to help those in need!
“My vision for our Counseling Center would be to carry the work of our Mission Statement to the greater St. Louis area,” Woods said. “There is no better way to serve God than by responding to the needs of children, youth and families to make a lasting difference in their lives through the ministry of comfort and reconciliation offered through counseling. I believe that we are called to ‘push back darkness’ and to bring the message of salvation, redemption, and healing to broken people in all walks of life.”
