MBCH Children and Family Ministries

There Are Many Types of Foster Care

How you can provide a loving home

Foster Care provides a temporary home for children who are unable to live in their biological parent's home. Foster parents provide a safe home and place for children to heal until they are either reunited with their birth family or an adoptive home is found.

Family Foster Care Parents provide care for children with mild-to-moderate behavioral/emotional needs. MBCH Children and Family Ministries (MBCH CFM) works as a community partner with the State and other private agencies to recruit, train and approve for licensure families that will serve children who have been removed from their family of origin.

Respite Foster Care Parents provide temporary short-term care for children in their homes.

We have meetings around the State each month. For dates and times near you, click here.

Relative / Kinship Care

Many times when a child's biological parents are unable to provide appropriate care for them, a relative (someone with a relationship through blood or marriage to the child) or kin (someone with a significant prior relationship with the child) will become the placement of choice for that child. Relative/kinship families are required to meet some of the same training and licensing standards as other foster families.

Special Needs

MBCH Children and Family Ministries is committed to finding families for children who need care outside their own homes. Children now entering out-of-home care need special help and understanding because they may have experienced the pain of physical abuse, sexual abuse and/or neglect.

These children often feel angry or upset because of the difficult experiences they have had. They need time to learn that adults can be trusted, they are not going to be hurt anymore and there are acceptable ways to express their feelings.

MBCH Children and Family Ministries needs homes for all types of children, but the majority of children needing homes are school age. Many of the children are in sibling groups that need to stay together. Some have special medical, emotional or developmental needs.

Special needs children have one or more of the following characteristics:

  • Serious emotional disturbance
  • Medically fragile
  • Member of a sibling group
  • Adolescent
  • Minority heritage

Here is a testimony from a Family that was Blessed by the power of Foster Care.
