MBCH Children and Family Ministries
MBCH Children and Family Ministries (MBCH CFM) is the member of the MBCH corporate family that provides most of the programs and services of the agency. This allows MBCH CFM to focus on caring for children, youth and families instead of roles that are more administrative in nature.
Since 1886, Missouri Baptists have been responding to the needs of hurting children, youth and families. One hundred thirty years ago, the response was an orphanage for abandoned and orphaned infants. The needs have changed greatly since that time, but the cries of society’s children continue. And those cries grow louder and reflect greater pain.
In 1886 the primary needs were the basics of food, clothing, shelter and love. In 2016 children suffer from abuse, neglect and severe family dysfunction. Physical, emotional and spiritual scars are the rule, not the exception. Many of the children in our care have been betrayed, used and abused by the adults in their lives. These children have so much hurt and anger inside, they cannot function in society as we know it. The trafficking of human beings creates emotional and spiritual scars that require an entirely new response.
Understanding society’s needs and how they affect the well-being of our children is the continual focus of MBCH Children and Family Ministries. Programs are started and services adjusted to remain on the cutting edge of child welfare. The MBCH of 2016 would be unrecognizable to our founders.
But with all of the changes in needs and our responses to those needs, the foundation of our ministry has never changed. Every ministry and program of MBCH is guided by the belief that we are called to minister to the hurting children, youth and families of our world. We strive to provide an atmosphere of hope and faith as we model our walk with Christ in all personal and professional relationships. We believe that this ministry demands that we integrate the highest professional standards and practices with our Christian belief system, thereby providing the very best of care.
